My life truly is all rainbows and butterflies.
Anyone who knows me knows that I often say (somewhat tongue in cheek) that I live a charmed life. On one hand, if it could go wrong, it usually does. But on the other hand, my life is full of magic.
So right now, things are crazy. Randall was undergoing a biopsy literally while Christina was in labor with Allie and was diagnosed with cancer the next week. So he's in town indefinitely for treatment. The next week, the very nice man that I have been spending a lot of time with lately was diagnosed with the same cancer. What were the odds? (I know, in my life, the more bizarre, the higher the odds.)
So yes, I am enjoying being a grandmother and getting to know Allie. I am also mentally and physically exhausted, trying to get back into the groove doing senior portraits after taking a long break to take care of Christina the last few weeks of pregnancy and the first few weeks of having a newborn. Difficult delivery with some pretty serious complications plus lots of stitches means that I've been helping her as much as possible. She was back in school in less than two weeks (gotta finish that degree to support the baby). She is turning out to be an fantastic mother but she has needed help since she couldn't drive and was still very weak. So I have become reacquainted with 3:00 AM feedings a couple nights a week (I am too old for that) and colic and doing housework with a baby in a sling. I am trying to remember to savor every minute of this time, even the amazingly difficult, trying and stressful parts.
Now I'm ready to start my day. Feed the baby breakfast so Christina can get a little more sleep since being a single mom is leaving her sleep deprived, a quick workout at the gym, editing a couple of shoots with a baby in a sling while Christina has class, healthy lunch, afternoon shoots, meet with a client, work on some marketing material, cook dinner, do dishes, do some laundry, feed and bathe a baby, and try to get in bed before midnight. Maybe I'll be able to squeeze in a few minutes of looking for some rainbows and butterflies this afternoon.
