The women on my Mom's side of the family (for generations) would rub the ends of the cucumber together before slicing the rest of the cuke.
Some say it takes the bitterness out- other "wives tales" claim it removes the "poison". Who knows really.
Anyone hear of this, or have other family "traditions"?
